This is one of Manet’s paintings. Its not my favorite of his, but its good.
Process:
First Sketches
I spent a lot of time thinking about and sketching ideas.
I feel like we, the viewers, are looking down at them from across a narrow street. I am thinking that the bottom of the balcony could be blocked from view by a top of a tree??? Need to re-sketch this again.
I do really like the ladies and the rest of the composition works for me (I can imagine the dark interior and the green blinds on the right).
