Art History
Art history is an integral part of my practice. I research artists and their work as a way of thinking through my own painting.
I think of a painting as one side of a conversation. Artists leave records of their ideas. In turn, others are influenced by and evolve the ideas.
These pages are notes on what I am learning, how I think artists relate to one another, and what I find successful or unsuccessful in their work.
Research
The Research scale measures the current quality of research, not the importance or quality of the artist.

Research is underway. Forming ideas and connections.
3
Substantial
Enough research to form an emerging point of view.
