Morandi, who became known for his still life paintings, was born in Italy in 1890. In his mid 20’s, before WW1 Morandi became heavily involved with a group of artists known as the Italian ‘Futurists’. I need to do more research, but I think almost everyone in the large group of artists died in WW1, Morandi had a breakdown and was discharged. After that, he lived what I think was a quiet life. (need to dig into this).

WOW!
This painting blew me away when I saw it. I find it so perfect in so many ways.
The colors and values of the colors are so strong. The brushmarks that I always would disagree with circling the vase work so well here. The signature is so bold and so beautiful.
This is perfection in my mind.
