Markus Lüpertz
Lupertz is becoming one of my favorite artists. I had not heard of him until recently though he has shown at several top tier galleries and influenced some of my favorite artists working today.
I’m just starting to learn about him, so my knowledge is limited.
Article 3 - 2012
This is the first work of Lupertz that registered with me. I was struck by the color and composition.
The seemingly quick brushwork is not something I aspire towards. I do admire how he has pulled off a very complex picture with minimal mark making.
I came back to this picture repeatedly because I was trying to figure out what was going on here.
As I have looked at more of Lupertz work, I find that quality to be a staple of his more mature works.
Lupertz has had a long successful career. It looks like his work starting in the 1980s has been
