Elizabeth Murray

I believe that Elizabeth Murray was one of the great artists of our time. It’s my belief that Murray has not achieved the level of recognition yet that she one day will find. I don’t think the art world has yet embraced her fully. Other than Frank Stella, I don’t know of any contemporary artists who explored breaking out of a canvas like she did. (Note: Earlier Lee Bontecou pushed her art to the point where it became more sculptural).

I’m going to slowly write out a bit about who Murray was, a bit about Bontecou and Stella as well (maybe on a few other artists). and try to understand better this side path that art went down.
