Painting by Vuillard

Vuillard ‘Portrait of Marie Vuillard’ (1890)

Vuillard is always at the back of my mind when approaching an artwork.

What I appreciate about Vuillard is you can start looking, appreciate the work, look some more, and then you are hooked. This image here is too small. If you get a chance to see one of his works in person, pay attention to his mark making. Just follow around his brushmarks. For me, his works read like maps. I think a great deal of what makes his work appealing is that he shows you his thought process unfold.

End of Session 7

I like where this work is at. With a few marks, I think this could be done. It feels like a very large scale print to me right now.

… alas… my personality disorder says otherwise.

Ha, I didn’t stay close to this one for long.
