Scouting
The hills of Portland are a hidden treasure. It rains a lot here so its always green and the trees are huge. The roads wander for miles and they are all overlooking the city that is so close you feel like you can smack buildings downtown with a well place fly ball.
I kind of like the bend in the road above. I was revisiting some spots I had done before with the thought that I might do something more elaborate.

What I appreciate about this work is what I assme is the pencil and ink on top of the gouache. the contrasting of marks are appealing.
Also, everyone always talks about how things get lighter in the distance. I like that Clausen is throwing some xtra dark on the horizon line.
