Rule Based Abstract #1
Ah shoot. This didn’t work very well. I had some ideas around abstract art and ceramics. I thought that I could maybe do something towards what I was thinking with thick paper.
It would probably be worth continuing on this. I just don’t have the time.
What is killing me is not the concept or even how this image is currently looking, its the quality of the materials being used. They are all wrong for what I want.
After Session(s) 1
I picked this back up off of my scrap heap to use as a foundation for a style I had transitioned to.
In retrospect, I should have known that it was probably better to leave well enough alone. That older style this image represents requires labor intensive time that I am not currently able to provide to a piece.
After Session 4
Dang it. I probably should have left it as is. I think this had a decent start. I tried to get fancy.
Conclusion:
I feel like I took a risk that I shouldn’t have and just chopped into a fairly mature work with scissors at the wrong time. After I started, I tried to recover it, but it just wasn’t worth saving.
One thing I did try to do was explore an idea of gravity within an abstract space. I started to try to explore what I was doing in another work:
