Objective:

Goal: I have spent the last couple of months working on egg tempera panels and have not gotten them to the point where any of them feel like they are getting pushed over the finish line. I think the main thing is that I need to blow up my paint application approach. I am starting 3 drawings to see if they jog anything loose.

  • Result: WIP

Elizabeth Peyton - Jake at the new Viet Huong - 1995

Peyton’s brushwork comes across as elegantly simple. Her work is eye candy in a good way.

William de Kooning - Nude Figure–Woman on the Beach 1963

deKooning had the most sophisticated arsenal of mark making. When I look at his work, I see someone who is practicing the act of applying paint to a canvas.
